Family Hiking

Recently, we went hiking at Mt. Watatic.  It was a short hike, about 2.2 miles, but certainly not quick.  It was the first hike Emma did all on her own!  We obviously took things slow, at Emma's pace.  We are so proud of her for completing this hike all by herself with zero assistance other than an occasional helping hand.  We were pretty excited Isla chilled out in the backpack for the entire time too.  She snoozed on the way up and during our 30+ minutes at the summit.  She woke up on the way down the mountain, but was perfectly happy going for a ride (and eating snacks).  We were pretty impressed with both of our girls.

Check out Isla's general annoyed eyebrows in this photo.
I got my camera out to take a video of Isla "animal style"
trying to walk while in that backpack (she succeeded with a
couple of steps). That was when Emma popped in the frame
and said "I'll smile and make this cute."

What a hiker!  Using her Mama's poles.

Posing with a sleeping Isla.

Emma was soooo excited to make it to the top
and have a huge lunch!

A close up of our snoozer!

Emma made it about 90% down the mountain when
she plopped herself down in the middle of the trail
and told us she was so tired she needed a nap.
Side note: despite the proclamation, she didn't nap that day.

Best little buds, checking out the pond near the parking lot.

Isla and Emma had sticks which they used to stir up tadpoles.

After the hike, we headed straight to Kimball's for a cold treat.
I took this photo while they were hunting for acorns and their poor
Papa waited over an hour to get his girls some ice cream.
