Standing & "Walking"

Emma is on her feet a lot lately!  She enjoys playing with toys on an elevated (1 to 2 feet off the ground) surface.  She is getting stronger and more sure of her legs.  She easily walks or "creeps" while holding furniture or touching the wall.  In addition, she loves walking behind her walker toy.  And she enjoys walking (or rather running) with you.  She prefers if you give her two fingers (one for each of her hands); although she will walk if only one is available. However, her steps remind me of a drunken sailor's.

Her Papa and Mama have been encouraging her to walk on her own, by sitting close to each other with Emma in between.  We then try to coax her to "walk" to the other.  We are there to give her a hand or to catch her when she starts to fall.  We clap a lot for her.  To Emma this has turned into a game of Trust.  Now when we set up for this, she simply falls forward trusting that we will catch her.  Then she sits up and claps for herself.  It is really pretty cute.

Lately she has been hanging out with a lot of older children who not only walk they run.  You can see it in her eyes, she wants it.   I think that one day soon, she'll be taking of her own first steps.

"Hiking" up a hill with Grandma!

A taste for independence with the walker and
she makes an escape for the driveway...

Standing and enjoying the views.

The determination!!!

Standing playing with her toys at her table.
