Toddler

I guess my little girl is a Toddler now.  She is transitioning into the Toddler room at daycare and she had her first Toddler well visit check-up with the doctor.  Wow - kind of hurts the heart that she has "grown-up" so quickly.  :)

At the doctor's office she measured at 31 inches (50th percentile) and over 20 pounds (estimated in the 10th percentile).  They only estimated her weight because her legs hung off the scale and she refused to curl up in a ball (so that all of her body parts could be over the scale).  So our understanding and extremely flexible doctor settled for estimating her weight.  For those of you who are tracking her percentiles - she has stayed pretty consistent with time (keeping the doctor happy).  She is meeting all of her Toddler developmental goals with the exception of walking.  The doctor was pleased to hear about the progress Emma has made over the last few weeks on her feet and the doctor thinks she'll be walking in the next month.

The Toddler class (15 months to 2 1/2 years of age) at daycare is exciting and new.  During this transitional stage, she continues to be dropped off in the Infant room.  In addition, she naps in her crib (Infant room).  But during play times she is in the Toddler room playing with the big kids.  Usually, they transition kids to the Toddler room when they are 15 months old and are WALKING.  But they have stated they think Emma "is mobile enough and holds her own as a crawler."  So a week or two of this transitional stage then she'll officially be in the Toddler room (and will be sleeping on a mat)!  In the meantime, we enjoy picking her up in the new room.  Seth picked her up a few days ago.  When he walked into the room, she looked up, light up when she saw him, waved and said "Hi!", and then turned and went back to playing with a truck.  The Toddler toys are just sooooo interesting!!!
