We Cut Our Own Christmas Tree!!!

Last year I had high hopes of cutting down our own tree, but Emma had different plans (check out that story here).  We were very motivated to get a tree up and decorated before Isla's arrival.  So a couple days after Thanksgiving we found ourselves cutting our own Christmas tree at a farm down the road (D.J. Hussey Farm).  We had a great time hunting for a tree, discouraging Emma from wanting the baby trees (the 6-inch saplings were her favorite), wandering around the farm, cutting down a tree (I let Emma and her Papa take care of that), listening to Emma talk about how she wanted to go inside, catching a ride in a gator utility vehicle, and eating some popcorn.

Searching high and low for the perfect tree.

Emma wanted the "baby" trees.

A kiss for Papa when we found our tree!

Here is a video of Emma and Papa cutting down the tree.
She is a great help - notice how she goes in the opposite
direction as Seth while sawing.  :)

Carrying out a Christmas tree (branch), just like her Papa.

We had a great time finding our tree and an even better time decorating it.  Her former method of staring at ornaments or throwing them into the tree and hoping they would stick has further developed (for those links: 2012 and 2011).  This year she has a hard time with the hooks, but she enjoyed putting the ornaments with strings onto the tree by pretending they are necklaces.  We only had two ornament casualties this year.  I'd say that was a success!

Finding the perfect location for an ornament.

Her 'Home Alone' pose.  Not sure what she was doing.

Her favorite spot to hang ornaments.

Hanging her special ornaments with her Papa.

A video of Emma hanging an ornament - sometimes it took a few tries.
