Back in December (a few Sundays ago) we attended our birthing preparation class reunion. For those of you who don't know, we studied the Bradley Method of Husband-Coached Natural Childbirth to prepare for Emma's "birth-day". Attending these classes took a lot of time and dedication. Every Sunday evening for three months we sat through two hours of classroom time. We learned about pre-natal nutrition, exercise, birth coaches, birth plans, relaxation techniques, and so much more. In addition, we studied, read, and practiced at home. The time and effort was well worth it, as we were able to have a healthy pregnancy and give Emma the most natural, intimate beginning we could.
None-the-less, we spent A LOT of time with the other class participants (6 families) and the instructor. We were all at the approximate same place in our pregnancies and lives. At the conclusion of the Bradley classes in April of 2011, we talked about having a reunion with the babies and waited patiently to hear news of births. And one by one, the babies were delivered and the announcements were made by our instructor. Plans to have a reunion finally began.
So finally in December of 2011, we reunited with several of the families who had the same desire for a natural childbirth. We got to meet their beautiful babies and share the babies' "birth-day" stories. It was a joyous, emotional reunion. We recounted memories of Emma's arrival and heard stories of other Warrior Mommas! It was nice to be in the company of other parents who understood what you had strived and trained for.
