52 Moments - Week 20

A playdate between adults and Emma and her friend Samantha ("Mantha" in Emma speak) ended up being more than just fun.  Emma picked up a couple of great habits.  After watching Samantha use Emma's little toilet with success, Emma spent the next twenty four hours trying it out with some success.  This toilet isn't new - it has been a bathroom fixture for over a year!  She sometimes sits in it, but mostly has her dolls use it like Grandma Shelar taught her.  We are happy to have the toilet back in use thanks to her friend Samantha.

The next great influence from Samantha has to do with diet.  During the playdate, the adults talked about how Samantha loves fish.  Emma has always disliked it ever since she grabbed a slice of salmon while thinking it was the Swedish Fish candies she had enjoyed the night before with Grandpa and Pepere.  That piece of salmon couldn't have exited her mouth any faster; and she has never given it another try.  Well last night, guess what was for dinner?  While we sat down for dinner, I explained everything that was on her plate.  When I got to the fish, I mentioned Samantha likes fish.  She ate EVERYTHING on her plate, but finished her fish first.  Just like "Mantha".  We are happy to have fish back on the menu without fussing.

Another influence - Emma sucked her thumb
after watching Samantha, a part-time thumb
sucker, do it.  The thumb sucking only seemed
to last 10 minutes.
