52 Moments - Week 26

Emma is a weekend warrior - her new official title.  Her parents are a little notorious for the amount of adventures packed into a short weekend at least in their "past life".  We call it fun, some call it crazy.  I have to admit, we haven't had as many weekend adventures since Emma's arrival.  From an early age, Emma seemed allergic to the car seat.  Expecting her to sit quietly without screaming (or whining) in a car seat (at whatever the age) always proved to be impossible.  We gave up long ago.

But then we became restless and weekend plans started to happen.  A birthday celebration for Mama in New Hampshire Friday night.  Then a race in the middle of Maine with a group of friends on Saturday.  And a company party in Massachusetts on Sunday.  Oops, adventures in three states (equivalent to 10 hours of driving) over one weekend booked.

Now what do we do?  Well we pulled out the big guns for this weekend adventure.  Snacks, so many snacks.  And running her around until she was so exhausted she HAD to sleep in the car (she normally doesn't).  And the iPad.  Oh the iPad.  It worked miracles.  I went from wanting to throw myself out of a moving car to reading a book.  A freaking book!  The iPad was truly a game-changer.  Emma watched "Is-pick-al Me" (Despicable Me) two times.  What a treat - for her and us!

Here is our little weekend warrior earning her new title - fast asleep for a 4-hour leg of the trip!

Here are a few more photos of Emma from the "trenches" in her car seat.

"Yay, I scored cheetos for being stuck in this thing!"

"More iPad less talking please."

"Mom, I found a raisin!!!"
