Cape Cod Camping

We headed to Cape Cod to go camping with some friends.  We had a grand time experiencing the "Cape" in the off-season: far less people and cooler weather than normal.  Emma had a marvelous time camping.  Her favorite activity was picking up stones as she "walked" the campground's gravel roads.  There were many rocks that were inspected with her precious fingers.  She also enjoyed the following activities during our weekend get-away:
  • Sleeping for some of the car ride;
  • Stopping for a swing session at a park;
  • Eating a seafood lunch and playing at the Friendly Fisherman;
  • Watching the sun set over the ocean (what a treat from the East Coast!);
  • Having a photo shoot at the beach;
  • Unpacking and helping Papa and Mama set up camp;
  • Cruising around the campsite and walking along side all the site's features (picnic table, chairs, cooler, etc.)
  • Exploring the Cape Cod National Seashore and getting a new stamp for her National Parks Passport;
  • Going to sleep like an angel every night (not like one of the last camping experiences where there was no sleeping);
  • Sharing a queen-size air mattress (she took up most of it!) with her Papa and Mama;
  • Enjoying yummy camp foods like chili and corn muffins, stir fry, soyrizo and corn tortillas, and egg and ham sandwich;
  • Snacking on hummus (she ruined the dip with her triple-dipping habit), pretzels, and grapes (her favorite);
  • Exploring the fun, artsy town of Provincetown;
  • Napping while Papa and Mama enjoyed a relaxing meal and drinks with their friends;
  • Shopping for Christmas gifts;
  • Hiking to the Highland Lighthouse (our campsite had a perfect view of this beacon);
  • People watching, which continues to be a favorite activity of hers; and
  • "Walking" all the way to the bathroom and back (picking up rocks along the way) while holding onto her Papa and Mama's hands (it took about an hour).
Here are some photos of Emma enjoying the Cape.

Emma enjoyed inspecting all the gravel rocks
in the road near our campsite.

Playing in the sand at the beach, taking in the views.

Emma watched her first East Coast sunset over the water.

Driftwood, boat, and Emma - a perfect photo shoot.

Taking a snooze in her backpack carrier while in Provincetown.

A family portrait at the lighthouse.

Snacking on grapes with her Papa at the campsite.

Mmmmm, breakfast of champions!!!

Enjoying her time on the swings.

Making art at the Friendly Fisherman's play area.
