Walking


Many of you may be wondering what is going on with Emma's walking...  I'm happy to announce that Emma is FINALLY walking.  As you may remember, she started taking a few steps between her Mama and Papa at 16 months.  She has been using (still uses) her "walker" push toy for a long time.  And recently started taking steps on her own (without any encouragement or bribing).

A couple of weeks ago, I bought her some Stride Rite First Walker shoes.  The shoes appear to give her stability on her feet, but are flexible enough to feel the ground.  Soon we started spotting her walking (a couple of steps) between toys or objects.  The distance has grown with time, and now she is able to walk on her own for 5 or 6 steps.  At first she was very cautious and would hang onto anything that she can could get a hold of (finger, wall, etc.).

And after about a week of extreme caution she is finally walking on her own.  Although, I think she would ratherI say "being carried in Mama's arms" as her preferred means of transportation.
